I DO – KNOW

I DO – KNOW

You threw me out of the house that night,

Have you no shame? You realize they are

your kids too — or have you forgotten that too?

We rode in our car at night — alone as it was

Storming outside. But inside there was calmness,

Of knowing you are not going to be around.

You think we hate you? I wish we could

feel any emotions for you. Indifference is

What you deserve — a man as puny as you.

You act with impunity and you make up lies.

Stop deceiving yourself — the others also realize.

One day when you will be alone, you will see

What I do know.

Now that you are not my family, and

we are going our separate ways — I open up

My heart and forgive you.

Children and I will be fine and are safe —

Now that you are away. When I said “I do”,

I thought I knew — but now “I do —truly know”.
